Learning Extension Days

Save the date – the 2024 Learning Extension Days at Loughborough University will take place on 26-27 November.

Our plans for 2024 will continue to be a “day and a half”, with our first session starting at 2pm on 26 November followed by a drinks reception and dinner during the first evening at Burleigh Court.

The 2024 LED will then continue at the close-by Holywell Park conference centre – providing a tiered lecture theatre and a large area of exclusivity for networking and fellowship. More details of the programme will follow with registration usually opening on 1 June.

Agriculture Lecture and Dinner

The Agriculture Lecture and Dinner will be held at Plaisterers’ Hall, London, on Wednesday 17 April at 6.00pm.

This year’s lecture speaker is Susan Jebb OBE, who is Chair of the UK’s Food Standards Agency and Professor of Diet and Population Health at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford.

The event will commence with a Champagne reception; the welcome from the Master, Guy Brogden, and the lecture will commence at 6:45pm followed by a three-course dinner at 8:10pm. There will also be an after-dinner cash bar for anyone wishing to network from 10pm.

This annual black-tie event is a key occasion in the Livery calendar and you are able to register here. The Inter Livery Ski Competition is to be held in Morzine on 24-26 January 2024.

Livery Familiarisation Event

Livery Familiarisation Event at Farmers and Fletchers Hall on 12 June. 10.30 for coffee.

This light-hearted and informative day is for those interested in knowing more about the Livery movement, the City of London and the Farmers’ Company. It is highly recommended for those who have recently become a Freeman, been Clothed, or are members of the Alumni Association who would like to proceed into Livery.

During the morning you will obtain an understanding of the history and governance of the Company, our charitable giving, our military affiliations and get a better understanding of the Livery movement and the City of London Corporation. The day will be delivered by senior officers of the Company and external advisers.

During the buffet lunch, Ted, our Beadle, will explain his role at our functions and demonstrate the ancient ritual of of the Loving Cup. In the afternoon there will be a walking tour through the City with Mr Murray Craig, a blue badge guide, the recently retired Clerk to the Chamberlain’s Court.
