Which is why the topic for the third Question Time, centred on the family farm and how best to respond to what some are calling the “new agriculture”.

Whether you call it ‘new agriculture’ or not, what is not in doubt is the fact that agriculture today, is facing more change than it has for generations.

Dr Stephen Ramsden of Nottingham University presented his executive summary. Stephen’s expertise is in – rural business management, agricultural policy and modelling farmer adaption to environmental change.

An excellent panel then gave their views on the summary, each focusing on a different area.

  • John Renner - a Northumberland LEAF farmer
  • Mark Bridgeman - who has recently stepped down as President of the CLA
  • George Dunn - Chief Executive of the Tenant Farmers Association

The session was then opened up for Questions from the 66 participants who had signed in for this third Question Time. The questions, answers and discussions were extremely relevant for today’s agriculture, and all thought the session worthwhile and interesting.
