Mansion House Lunch for the City Farm Movement

Summary of th event on Thursday 21st October 2021

Date: 21st October 2021

Lady Mayoress, Hilary Russell who is a fellow Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Farmers, along with the Master and Past Master David Bolton welcomed guests to learn more about the thirteen free entry City Farms that have more than half a million people through their gates each year.

Gemma from Surrey Docks Farm gave an excellent presentation explaining that City Farms are working green educational spaces with livestock and food-growing gardens. These City farms link the inner City, the countryside, the source of our food and Londoners with one another. There are volunteers on the farms from school children to those who have retired and those with varying abilities, the City Farms are an important part of their lives and offer stability and purpose.

The majority of our guests were unaware of the City Farms and the tremendous work that they do within the urban community of London and were so inspired, that significant donations were pledged to support this wonderful charity. Our sincere thanks to our guests who gave their support and all those involved with City Farms who do so much for so many.

City Farms are a charity and for social value, not financial profit. For more information please visit www.londonharvestfestival.org
